Walking the Isle of Skye
The isle of Skye is blessed with some amazing coastal and mountain walking. With gentle coastal walking and the Cuillin range towering high over the seas there truly is something for everyone. Our Skye trips include coastal and mountainous variations to suit different levels of ability.
Heading out from the west coast town of Oban, familiarisation and safety briefs will start your trip off as we head for the Isle of Skye. Your skipper and crew will make the best decisions on which part of Skye to aim for based on the weather conditions. From there we have a number of walking options including a dozen Munros and countless low level and coastal routes to explore! With Taeping as your floating base, our team will work to ensure you have a pleasant time while onboard.
Guests are free to pursue their own options ashore or can join us on a guided walk. We will provide lunch and snacks for you to take ashore with you. It is important that you are properly prepared for the activity of mountaineering and we recommend guests only consider taking on any Munros on the Isle of Skye after gaining experience with mainland Munros.
Whilst we will provide safety equipment for your time on the yacht you must have your own walking equipment, as well as being fit enough to complete a mountainous ascent, or trail walk of between 8 and 12 hours duration (This includes time for delays). Travel:
Oban is well served with rail and road access and also has a small airport (mainly serving private planes and the island communities). We think though, that the train journey from Glasgow is well worth considering as it takes in some of Scotland’s most amazing scenery as it snakes it’s way through Scottish Lochs and mountains. Car Parking is also available to book online, in advance, for various car parks in the Oban area. You can offload at the pontoons car park before parking your vehicle . Oban is also served by EV charge points from a number of different vendors.
