From The Clyde To The Solway

Join Scotland’s leading expedition sailing yacht as she heads south for the winter. Now, not south until the butter melts, just to the South of Scotland, Kirkcudbright to be precise. Taeping will be wintering in Kircudbright again for the 24/25 winter period which sees us travel through some of the most amazing waters on Scotland’s mainland. Taking in the sheltered and protected waters of the upper Clyde we head south from our home at Kip marina towards the waters surrounding the isle of Arran, Scotland in miniature.

Passing the Stunning Little Ross

Heading further south we pass “Paddy’s Milestone” before entering into the North Channel where the village of PortPatrick stands tall.

Cruising around the Mull of Galloway it’s time to follow the south coast along the Solway Firth as we head towards Kirkcudbright Bay

Passing Little Ross at the entrance to Kirkcudbright bay will see our final stretch as we head up the river Dee towards our winter berth.

We will provide safety equipment for your time on the yacht.

The tidal river dee is a big must for many sailors

Travel:

Kip Marina, our starting point, sits in the village of Inverkip which is well served with rail and road access. We recommend guests travel via train to Inverkip (via Glasgow Central Station) which is a 5-7 minute walk (downhill) to the marina. If you prefer to drive the marina has ample car parking and EV charge points from a number of different vendors are available in the marina or Inverkip village.

Kirkcudbright, tucked away in the southern heart of Dumfries and Galloway is served mainly by bus links to both Dumfries and Stranraer from where onward travel via train is also possible. We can also arrange shared travel from Kirkcudbright to Kip if guests wish to leave their car at Kirkcudbright before joining the yacht at Inverkip.

Cost:

£245 per person
