Walking the Hebridean Islands

The islands of the Hebrides hold an amazing mix of both coastal, gentle track and mountainous walking to be found in a relatively small area. Imagine being able to get right into some of the most remote island walks, dropped off at a convenient location and picked up where the route best suits.

For the more adventurous walkers a Munro is defined as a mountain, in Scotland, rising to over 3000 Feet and which is on the Scottish Mountaineering Club official list of Munros. Some are a little more inaccessible than others and that’s where we come in! Imagine being able to enjoy a mobile base while ticking some Munros off that bagging list!

Heading out from the west coast town of Oban, familiarisation and safety briefs will start your trip off as we head for the Isle of Mull. With options for a North or South route depending on weather it won’t be long before you are settled in for a night aboard before, possibly heading for Ben More.

With your first walk ticked off we will head to our next destination. Perhaps the small isles, or the low lying lands of Tiree. Weather will be our main decision maker so we can have as enjoyable a sail as possible between walks.

Guests are free to pursue their own routes ashore and we will provide lunch and snacks for you to take with you. It is important that you are properly prepared for the activity of mountaineering and we recommend guests only consider taking on Munros on this trip after gaining experience with other Munros.

Whilst we will provide safety equipment for your time on the yacht you must have your own walking equipment, as well as being fit enough to complete a mountainous ascent, or trail walk of between 8 and 12 hours duration (to include time for delays). Travel:

Oban is well served with rail and road access and also has a small airport (mainly serving private planes and the island communities). We think though, that the train journey from Glasgow is well worth considering as it takes in some of Scotland’s most amazing scenery as it snakes it’s way through Scottish Lochs and mountains. Car Parking is also available to book online, in advance, for various car parks in the Oban area. You can offload at the pontoons car park before parking your vehicle . Oban is also served by EV charge points from a number of different vendors.

Cost:

£ 985 per person inclusive of all onboard costs.
